Reporting a Hate crime

A hate crime is any incident committed against a person or property that is motivated by the offender's hatred or dislike of a person or group of people because of their race, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
Hate crime can take many forms - physical attacks, verbal abuse, damage to property, offensive letters and leaflets, as well as neighbour disputes, threats, abusive gestures, arson and graffiti.
If you believe the incident is an emergency or there is an immediate threat to life or property you should telephone 999.
If you prefer, you can report a hate crime to your local police station by telephoning their non-emergency number on 01253 – 293933.
