Residents join forces to Tackle crime and Anti-Social Behaviour in their Neighbourhood.

BSafe Blackpool and Reassurance Plus are gearing up for a week of activity of activity as residents take to the streets for a week of action to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

'Not in My Neighbourhood Week', which runs from Monday 2nd November to Friday 6th November 2009, aims to promote what is being done locally to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and encourages the police, public services and communities to work together to keep our streets safe. Thousands of people up and down the country are joining forces with crime-fighting professionals for a week of community action.

Home Office Minister Alan Campbell said: "We can only tackle crime and anti-social behaviour by working together and that's what Not in My Neighbourhood Week is all about.

"an enormous amount of work is being done every day to make our communitites safer and when people see this for themselves, it in turn makes them feel safer and encourages them to get involved."

The partners of BSafe Blackpool, including Neighbourhood Policing teams, the council and Reassurance Plus, are leading the effects to inform people of what is being done in their area.

In Blackpool there is a host of activities going on. These include street briefings, activity days, mobile policing offices in local communities , exhibitions and on the Tuesday and Wednesday the Bsafe Blackpool Information bus will be outside Marks and Spencers in the town centre carrying information about partner agencies and initiatives.

Cllr Tony Williams, Cabinet Member of Culture and Communities at Blackpool Council and Chair of BSafe Blackpool, said: "As the government is encouraging local authorities and agencies to get involved more with their community and give residents a say on what is done about anti-social behaviour and crime this week of activity will give the community a chance to engage with the key agencies and find out what is currently being done. We are happy to get involved with this nationally acclaimed campaign and I hope people will take the chance to engage with the partner agencies and notice the very positive work they do to impact on community safety in the resort."
