Fun at the Park

The sun shone for Bancroft Park’s first ever Fun Day, which was held recently.

The whole of the south Neighbourhood Policing Team were out in force to ensure that everyone that came along to the event had a great time.

In addition, members of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), Ambulance Service and Paramedics were there, along with members of the local Residents Association and representatives from the Sandcastle Waterworld. The event was supported by BSafe Blackpool, the local Parks Department and Blackpool Council.

The Bouncy Castle and donkey rides were a great hit with local children who also had a chance to dress up in real police uniforms and to sit in a police car or fire engine and experience what it’s like to be in a real fire thanks to the ‘Smoke tent’ brought along by local fire fighters.

PCSO Steve King took a lead in organizing the event and worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had a great time. Members of his family also helped out at the Operation Summer Nights stand giving away colouring books, balloons and lots of other freebies to visitors to the stand.

He says, “I was delighted that so many local residents and children came along to meet the team and our colleagues in the emergency services. I also want to say well done to PCSO’s Darren Chappell and Danny Pinder who tirelessly property marked bikes and other property all day.

“We gave out over 125 Operation Summer Nights water bottles promoting sensible drinking and over 150 balloons to children, as well as pens, key rings, wrist bands and other gifts from our stand, supporting our Operation Summer Nights key themes, ‘Drink Sensibly’ and ‘Give Respect to get Respect’.”
