Neighbourhood Policing is right up your street

Local Neighbourhood Policing teams will be holding fun days for communities this half term and are urging everyone old and young alike to come along to the events to meet them.

The ‘Right up your Street’ Campaign is part of an ongoing drive to increase awareness about local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and how they are working in communities to improve the quality of life for residents.

The Fun Days start on Monday the 22nd and run to Saturday 27th October at the following locations:

  • Monday 22nd October at Phoenix Playing Fields, Fleetwood Rd, Bispham from 12-4pm
  • Tuesday 23rd October at Claremont Park, Blackpool from 12-4pm
  • Wednesday 24th October at Memorial Park, Kirkham from 12-4pm
  • Thursday 25th October at Bancroft Park, Blackpool from 12-4pm
  • Friday 26th October at Ashton Gardens, St Annes from 2pm – 8pm
  • Saturday 27th October at Stanley Park, Blackpool from 12-4pm

Anyone who comes along to one of the fun days will be given details of their local Neighbourhood Policing Team, a chance to chat with officers, crime prevention information and, whilst stocks last, a free gift.

In addition the kids will have great fun as there’ll be Bouncy Castles, climbing demonstrations, football coaching, kite flying, 5-a-side football matches, and much more at each and every event.

Inspector Keith Ogle said, “Every single ward across Blackpool and the Fylde now has its own dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team consisting usually of one or more Community Beat Managers, Police Community Support Officers, Specials and Volunteers.

“We know people want a visible presence on streets and Neighbourhood Policing Teams are in place to provide a very localised and visible policing service. Your Neighbourhood Policing Teams run PACT meetings every month to give you the opportunity to speak to the police face to face to air your concerns and also run a range of community based activities such as fun days, youth groups, boxing clubs, away days, football schemes, and all manner of community based activities to improve the quality of life in your area.

“We know crime is reduced by working with the community and statutory partners to impact on the root causes of crime. Your local Neighbourhood Policing Teams work with communities to clean up play areas, improve lighting, secure money for fencing, resolve long running neighbour disputes, leaflet areas hit by crime spikes, hold property marking sessions and a wide range of other activities aimed at making life better for people whilst still reducing crime.

“We hope that the events next week are well attended and people make the most of the opportunity to attend the fun days and get to know their local teams. The key is building up trust and knowing that your local neighbourhood policing officers are there for you, they are someone you can talk to, whatever the problem.”

“Visit your local Police Station, give us a call on 0845 1 25 35 45 or visit our website at www.lancashire.police.uk to find out who your local officer is – you never know when you might need them.”
