Stanley Park new RESPECT campaign
Stanley Park has launched a Good User Guide as part of its ongoing respect campaign to encourage park users to behave in an acceptable manner and respect the park, each other and the wildlife.
The Stanley Park Good User Guide includes the new Traffic Light User system for dog owners. A coloured map in the guide shows areas marked in red, where dogs are banned, yellow, where dogs must be on leads and green, where dogs may exercise without a lead but under proper control.
The guide was developed following consultation with the members of the public and partners involved with the management of the park, in line with its progress through partnership” philosophy, which aims to make Stanley Park a better place to visit. In support of the Council’s Parks and Green Environment Service, partners include; the Police, The Friends of Stanley Park, Lidstones Catering, The Blackpool Model Village and Blackpool Civic Trust.

Cllr David Owen, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “This guide represents real progress in encouraging positive use of this priceless green open space asset and reinforces the progress that has already been made in partnership with the Police, Friends of Stanley Park Group and other partners working together to deliver the vision contained within the Stanley Park Security Strategy. I hope people will continue to support the Council and respect the park.”
Inspector Louise Leyland from Blackpool Police said: “The safety and security of the people that use the park is a priority for the dedicated officers that work there.

This guide is extremely good news for both the officers and the users of the park and gives clear guidelines for what is acceptable in the park and what is not.
In the past the park has seen its fair share of problems, but the launch of the Park Watch scheme last year and now the introduction of the new Respect Campaign can only help to impact on crime, anti-social behaviour and vandalism and make the park a safer place for everyone.”
